Modeling Pedestrian Flows: Agent-Based Simulations of Pedestrian Activity for Land Use Distributions in Urban Developments

نویسندگان

چکیده

Pedestrian activity is a cornerstone for urban sustainability, with key implications the environment, public health, social cohesion, and local economy. Therefore, city planners, designers, decision-makers require tools to predict pedestrian mobility assess walkability of existing or planned environments. For this purpose, diverse approaches have been used analyze different inputs such as street network configuration, density, land use mix, location certain amenities. This paper focuses on amenities elements flow prediction, and, therefore, success spaces in terms life neighborhoods. Using agent-based modeling (ABM) floor space data, study builds model, which applied both areas inner Hamburg, Germany. The flows predicted area inform ongoing design planning process. simulated are compared against real-world data external validation report model accuracy. results show that intensity correlates density diversity amenities, among other KPIs. These correlations validate our approach also quantify it measurable indicators.

Modeling and Analysis of Pedestrian Flows

MODELING AND ANALYSIS OF PEDESTRIAN FLOWS by Romesh Khaddar 〈Dr. Zhonghai Ding〉, Examination Committee Chair University of Nevada, Las Vegas According to the Traveler Opinion and Perception Survey of 2005, about 107.4 million Americans regularly use walking as a mode of transport during their commute, which amounts for 51% of the total American population. In 2009, 4092 pedestrian fatalities we...

A Framework for Group Modeling in Agent-Based Pedestrian Crowd Simulations

Pedestrian crowd simulation explores crowd behaviors in virtual environments. It is extensively studied in many areas, such as safety and civil engineering, transportation, social science, entertainment industry and so on. As a common phenomenon in pedestrian crowds, grouping can play important roles in crowd behaviors. To achieve more realistic simulations, it is important to support group mod...

A Framework for Modeling Social Groups in Agent-Based Pedestrian Crowd Simulations

Grouping is a common phenomenon in pedestrian crowds and social groups can have significant impacts on crowd behavior. Despite its importance, how to model social groups in pedestrian crowd simulations is still an open and challenging issue. This paper presents a framework for modeling social groups in agent-based pedestrian crowd simulations. The developed framework integrates agent behavior m...

Towards Modeling Activity Scheduling in an Agent-based Model for Pedestrian Dynamics Simulation

In this paper we present an extension of an agentbased model representing pedestrian dynamics in order to include elements related to activity scheduling and the management of events. In particular, we will focus on the guidelines to analyze the scenario, identifying activities and the temporal relationships among them, such as how events that happen in an environment and change its configurati...

Spatial activity-based modeling for pedestrian crowd simulation

This paper proposes a spatial activity-based modeling approach and applies it to pedestrian crowd behavior simulations. Compared to conventional pedestrian crowd models where pedestrians make movement decisions in a time-based manner, the spatial activity-based pedestrian crowd model allows a pedestrian to make decisions only when needed, that is, when there is significant change in the pedestr...
